God said in Isaiah 55:8-9, "My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts and My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." All creation is all from the wisdom of our God. He created the universe, the stars, the moon, the sun, and everything in this world. He exists outside of our time, so He knows the beginning and end. He knows the number of our days on this earth. He knows the number of our hair. He knows everything about us. He knows the desires and longing of our hearts. He knows the good and evil intent of our hearts. With everything He knows about us, He wants to guide us to a better life.
Jesus said this in Matthew 11:28-30, Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you because I am humble and gentle in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light." The yoke that Jesus is referring on this verse is His ways. Jesus wants to teach us His ways so we can walk in them because His ways are easier to bear than the ways of this world. The ways of this world make us weary and give us heavy burdens. Only Jesus can give us rest for our souls because His ways are higher than ours.
God's thoughts and ways are higher than ours, and He knows everything about us. God wants to guide us through this life but will require us to surrender our ways and desires so that we can learn His ways. The choice is up to us. The more we walk in our ways, the more we struggle and carry our heavy burdens. However, God's way will lead us to a better life because God's wisdom will guide us, and He will carry our heavy burdens for us.
Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you) Am I willing to surrender my ways and desires to God and let Him teach me His ways? Do I trust my ways rather than God's ways? What should I do to walk in God's ways?
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, your thoughts and ways are higher than mine. I admit that I have a limited understanding of things. Many things that I do not know about my life and future. You know all my burdens and struggle. Would you help me surrender my life to you so that I can walk in your ways and find rest for my soul? I believe you are the only one who can ultimately satisfy the longing of my soul. In your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
