GOD'S PROMISE SOLUTION TO SIN

Satan's pride and ambition to be like God led to his downfall. God judged him by casting him out of Heaven, and he became God's enemy, seeking to destroy everything associated with God. He took the form of a serpent (snake) to be near Eve in the Garden of Eden so that he could tempt her. Satan's goal was to destroy the human race by destroying their relationship with God. He understood that if Adam disobeyed God, God's judgment would fall upon him, impacting all of humanity. So, he tempted Eve to get to Adam, and his plan succeeded. Because of his temptation, Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating the fruit of the forbidden tree, and God's judgment fell upon them. As a result, God judged Satan by these words, "Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all animals, domestic and wild. You will crawl on your belly, groveling in the dust as long as you live. And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel" (Genesis 3:14-15). God judged the serpent (snake), and it would crawl on its belly for the rest of its existence. God also brought hostility between Satan and Eve's children, and one of Eve's children would crush Satan's head, but Satan would strike his heel. The child referred to by God is our Lord Jesus Christ, who was born of Mary. All humanity descended from Adam and Eve.

Our Lord Jesus crushed Satan's head on the cross, while Satan bruised Jesus' heel through the suffering and death that he had caused. However, Jesus defeated Satan's scheme to separate humanity from God through His resurrection. Through God's judgement to Satan, God brought the hope of salvation to all humanity. Genesis 3:14-15 describes the future Savior who would save Eve's children from sin. God never gave up on Adam and Eve. Although they were judged because of their disobedience and reaped the consequences of their sins, God brought a solution to their sins. We need to remind ourselves that even in our failures, God never gives up on us. There is always forgiveness in God when we humble ourselves to Him. There is no sin that we have committed that he cannot forgive if we repent and follow Him. Adam and Eve hid from God when they sinned, but God wanted them to come out and confess their sins so that they could be forgiven. We will discuss tomorrow's devotion about the life of Adam and Eve, after they disobeyed God.

Let us not run away from God when we sin, but let us run to him for forgiveness. He doesn't hate us when we sin. He hates what we have done, but he still loves us. Adam and Eve didn't completely lose, for God gave them a lifeline through our Lord Jesus.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) What was God's solution to Satan's plan to destroy His relationship with humanity? What should I do when I sin against God? Why does hiding from God never work in dealing with our sins?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for not giving up on me even when I miserably fail you because of my disobedience. You hate the sin that I committed, but you still love and care about me. You want me to go to you, humble myself to you by confessing my sin, and ask for your forgiveness, and you will completely forgive me. It is easy for me to be forgiven because you have done the hard work by dying on the cross for my sins and being resurrected from the dead. Thank you for your grace, mercy, and love. In your name, Jesus, I pray, Amen.
