GOD PRESERVED HIS NAME

God preserved His name on this earth through the line of Seth. As the population on Earth continued to grow, the division between those who believe and walk with God and those who do not widened. Genesis 5 describes Seth's family line. Genesis 5:1-6 says, "This is the written account of Adam's family line. When God created mankind, he made them in the likeness of God. He created them male and female and blessed them. And he named them 'Mankind' when they were created. When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died. When Seth had lived 105 years, he became the father of Enosh." It is very clear in the Bible that there are only two biological sex identities or genders: male and female. Both of the sexes are considered mankind in the Bible. The original Hebrew word for mankind is Adam. All human beings were created like Adam, and Adam was created in the likeness or image of God. Seth's line continued the godly line of Adam.

In our society today, people who hold and promote the far-left gender ideologies want to stop focusing on the biological sex identities and focus on the gender identity, which asserts that one's internal sense of gender may differ from their sex assigned at birth. Their view of gender is an ongoing, personal identity of themselves, leading to the use of terms such as non-binary, genderqueer, and gender-fluid. The reason I am explaining this issue is that the Bible never teaches gender fluidity. There are only two genders that God created: male and female. Interestingly, when God described Adam's line through Seth's line, He mentioned again that He created mankind or humankind as male and female. God knew beforehand that biological sex identities would be a contention in the future, like for us today. No matter what the world says or teaches about biological sex identities, we must follow what the Word of God says. Because in the end, His Word will stand because He is the one who created us. Sadly, in Canada right now, a person can go to jail or be given a fine penalty for teaching what the Word of God says about biological sex identities because it is against their tolerance and diversity policies.

There is a price to pay as we stand for the Word of God today. God teaches us to love all people, while we still follow God's Word. Seth and his family chose to follow God no matter what was going on around them, and God preserved His name through them and made them the light in this world.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) What are the two biological sex identities for humans? How should I live my life as God's follower? Am I willing to preserve God's Word in my life as I encounter the world around me?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for creating me according to your likeness. Please help me to live according to your Word, for your Word teaches me how I should live my life. Help me to love others, no matter how they view themselves, but help me to stand for your truth. May you use my life to preserve your truth and Word so that people may know your ways through me. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
