God's creation shows his creativity and wisdom. He created the earth's ecosystem, which allows all creatures to interact for their survival. Psalm 104:10-18 says, "You make springs pour water into the ravines, so streams gush down from the mountains. They provide water for all the animals, and the wild donkeys quench their thirst. The birds nest beside the streams and sing among the branches of the trees. You send rain on the mountains from your heavenly home, and you fill the earth with the fruit of your labor. You cause grass to grow for the livestock and plants for people to use. You allow them to produce food from the earth—wine to make them glad, olive oil to soothe their skin, and bread to give them strength. The trees of the Lord are well cared for—the cedars of Lebanon that he planted. There the birds make their nests, and the storks make their homes in the cypresses. High in the mountains live the wild goats, and the rocks form a refuge for the hyraxes." God created the springs of water to support life for so many living things, including human beings. The streams of water that gush down the mountains provide not only water supplies but also food sources. The creek, river, and lake produce bacteria and plankton that feed fish, and the fish is one of the food sources of land-based animals, such as birds, eagles, and bears.
All living things depend on water, and this is why God abundantly blesses the earth with rain, nurturing life with His constant provision. He provides adequate water to the grass, plants, and trees, enabling them to serve as food and shelter for many animals. God is always active in sustaining all His creation, and God is reminding us today with His words in Matthew 6:25-27, "That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn't life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren't you far more valuable to Him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?" When we begin to worry about tomorrow or our future, let us look up to God and remind ourselves that God is our sustainer.
We may not have the greatest or latest gadget, but God guarantees that He will always provide for our needs. Instead of worrying about tomorrow, let us be thankful for what God has provided us today. Jesus said, "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today (Matthew 6:34)."
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Who is the one who sustains all living things on this earth? Why I don't have to worry about my needs for tomorrow? What should be my attitude today, knowing that God will take care of my future?
Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven, You are the sustainer of all your creation. I thank you for being faithful in providing everything that I need. Please help me not to worry about tomorrow. I trust you completely to take care of all my concerns. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
