GOD IS THE SOURCE OF EVERYTHING I HAVE

King David acknowledged that every good thing he had came from God in Psalm 16. He said, "You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you." King David realized that his position as the king of Israel had been given to him by God. His palaces and all his possessions came from God. King David added, "The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance!" His wisdom, strength, and courage came from God. King David responded by blessing the LORD, "I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me."

As children of our Heavenly Father, we need to realize that everything we have come from Him. Our very existence comes from Him. All our possessions, jobs, and opportunities are given to us by God. It is easy for us to give credit to ourselves for all our possessions because we work hard for them. For example, the house, the car, money, cell phones, shoes, shirts, pants, and all our belongings. However, all our possessions can be taken away from us instantly. Look what happens when natural disaster strikes; for example, wildfires, tornadoes, earthquakes, tidal waves, hurricanes, and floods. We have seen in the news how people lost everything. How about sickness, such as cancer, heart attack, or any sickness that can end our lives?

We become more secure when we acknowledge that God is the source of everything we have. King David quoted, "No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave. You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever." Our security is not from our possessions, but our security comes only from the God who gives us everything.

Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully and meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speaks to you). Do I believe that everything that I have comes from God? How should I live believing that everything I have comes from God? Where is my security: in my possessions or in God alone?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, everything I have, including my very life, comes from you. I breathe and live because you sustain me. Please help me never forget that every good thing in my life is your blessing. May I honor and glorify you with everything that I have. Thank you for all your blessings. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
