GOD IS THE CREATOR AND OWNER OF EVERYTHING

Psalm 24 is written for the victorious celebration of the king after defeating his enemies. The king would return to the city and go to the temple of God to offer up a sacrifice of praise to acknowledge God for their victory. David acknowledged God in Psalm 24:1-2, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.” King David acknowledged God as the creator of everything; therefore, He owns everything, including the entire universe, the earth, and everything in it. There is nothing that exists that He doesn’t own. The air that we breathe, the water that we drink, the ground that we are standing on, the sun that keeps us warm, the very life that we have comes from Him. God has the right to give, and He has the right to take it back. God is the supreme owner and has authority over everything. King David acknowledged that the God who was sovereign over everything gave him victory on the battlefield.

Let us acknowledge today that God is our creator and the owner of our life and everything we have. Let us give thanks for all our possessions and every good thing that He has blessed us. It is easy for us to think that we own our lives and all our possessions because we work hard to care for ourselves and provide for our needs through our jobs. However, God is the one who gives us the strength to work. He is the one who provides us with jobs and opportunities. God can control the weather on the tip of His fingers, and He can cause drought and natural disaster, and everything that we possess and put our trust in can be gone instantly. God knows the number of our days on this earth. We are here today and gone tomorrow. Yet, God is still the owner of everything and still has complete authority over everything. Colossians 1:16 says, “For through Him (Jesus), God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through Him and for Him.”

Philippians 2:10-11 says, “so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth.” Ultimately, our Lord Jesus Christ will be exalted and lifted up. Even Satan, the demons, and those who rejected to believe in Jesus will bow to our Lord Jesus and acknowledge Him as God of all creation at the end of time.

Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you). Who owns my life and everything that I have? How should I live knowing that God owns my life? Am I willing to surrender and acknowledge that Jesus is my Lord?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for reminding me today that you are the creator and owner of everything. Thank you for all your provisions and for sustaining me. I acknowledge you as the God of my life. Lord Jesus, I believe in you as my Lord and Savior. Please teach and help me to trust in you completely and to live for your honor and glory. In your name, Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.
