When Joseph was deceivingly and falsely accused by his master's wife of not giving in to her demand to sleep with her, he ended up in prison. Being in prison as a slave during that time was certain to be a lifetime imprisonment. A slave had no rights; therefore, no one could represent him to fight for his case. This was the worst situation that could ever happen to Joseph. God put Joseph in a very desperate and helpless situation, and only He could rescue Joseph from prison. It seems everything was over for Joseph. However, God was not finished with Joseph. Genesis 39:21 says, "But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden." God was with Joseph during the worst situation. From the human's perspective, Joseph's life was over, but from God's perspective, Joseph had great opportunities to become the second-highest official in Egypt. God was the only one who could turn our helpless situations into many possibilities. Genesis 39:22-23 says, "Before long, the warden put Joseph in charge of all the other prisoners and over everything that happened in the prison. The warden had no more worries because Joseph took care of everything. The Lord was with him and caused everything he did to succeed."

Not long after, Pharaoh's chief cupbearer and chief baker were put in prison because they offended Pharaoh. One evening, each of them had a dream, and Joseph interpreted their dreams. This event led to Joseph's release from prison to interpret Pharaoh's dream, which led him to be the second-highest official of Egypt. When we are in a helpless and hopeless situation, God is always on our side, so let us never feel that we are alone. As long as we are still alive on this earth, God is still working on our impossible situations. We may feel that it's over for us, but nothing is over until God says so. Let us continue to trust Him and walk diligently in our walk with Him. He is the only one who can turn our impossibilities into possibilities. Let us not give up but keep on trusting and walking with God daily. As we walk with God daily, we are secure even if we lose everything. God will sustain and guide us to fulfill His purposes in our lives until the end.

Joseph never lost hope, even in his worst situation, because God was with Him. Just as God was with Joseph, God is also with us today. There is not a moment when God is not with us. He is always with us; therefore, we will never lose hope. Let us keep on walking with God and trusting him every day.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Have I ever been in a situation where I felt like I was helpless? Describe a situation in which you were in a helpless situation, and God rescued you. What lesson is God teaching me in today's devotion?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, I praise you for always being with me, even in my worst situations. Nothing is over until you say so. All things are possible for you, so please help me completely trust you in my current situation. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
