GOD FIGHTS FOR US

Psalm 20 is a prayer of the people for their king before their king fights their enemies. The people prayed, "In times of trouble, may the Lord answer your cry. May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe from all harm. May he send you help from his sanctuary and strengthen you from Jerusalem. May he remember all your gifts and look favorably on your burnt offerings. May he grant your heart's desires and make all your plans succeed. May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory and raise a victory banner in the name of our God. May the Lord answer all your prayers (Psalm 20:1-5)." The people diligently prayed for their king before the battles because if their king was defeated, their city would be destroyed, and all the people would be enslaved by their enemies. The people were ultimately relying on God for their king’s victory.

The king responded by saying, "Now I know that the Lord rescues his anointed king. He will answer him from his holy Heaven and rescue him by his great power. Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God. Those nations will fall down and collapse, but we will rise up and stand firm (Psalm 20:6-8)." Unlike the other nations, the nation of Israel, including the king of Israel, relied on God for their victory. The lesson that we can learn from this Psalm is the importance of acknowledging that God fights for our battles. He is the one who gives us victories in life. When we feel defeated, we need to rise up and be encouraged that God is on our side, and He fights for our battles.

Our victory is always in our God. Prayer is so important in our daily battles because we get victory through prayer and reliance on God. Let us not rely on our understanding and strength. Let us always rely on God's strength and wisdom, for He always fights for us.

Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you). Who can give me victory in my daily battles? Do I rely on God to fight my battles? What are the ways I rely on God to fight my daily battles?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for fighting for my daily battles. Please help me rely on you completely, not on my strength and wisdom. You are the victorious King, and nothing is impossible for you. Please give me peace, guidance, and strength to fight my battles today. In your name, Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.
