David concluded Psalm 37 with the following verses, "The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them because they take refuge in him (Psalm 37:39-40)." On this Thanksgiving Day, let us celebrate with thanksgiving to our God. We have a God who has saved us from our sins and gave us eternal life. He gave us eternal hope that will never be shattered by anything in this world, including our failures and sins. Our God is our stronghold in times of trouble. No matter how much pressure we may feel, God will carry us with His strength. God is always on our side, and He takes care of us, even when we do not feel like it. He is always working behind the scenes of our situations. Maybe some of us have been struggling this year with lost, difficult relationships, job challenges, financial problems, school, health issues, confusion, or depression. No matter what we are going through, our God is our refuge. We can go to Him and find rest. Our God can turn our mourning into dancing, our darkness into light, and our rainy season into sunshine.Â
Â
Let us thank the Lord today for all the goodness that He has done this year. Although we have challenges this year, we can still find many good things that God has done in our lives. Remembering God's goodness is one of the ways that can bring hope in our situations. When we see God's goodness in our lives, we can have the assurance that God will take care of the rest, including the things that we are currently going through. Let us not fix our eyes on our problems, but let us focus our eyes on our Lord Jesus. The answer to our problems is Jesus because He is our refuge.
Â
May we have a blessed Thanksgiving today. And I want to encourage us to remember and meditate on all the goodness that God has shown us this year. Let's have a moment to praise and thank our Heavenly Father. For some of us, we may have a busy day today, but some of us may not have a busy day. In any case, let us take time to pause and thank God. Â
Â
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you). What are the things that I am thankful for this Thanksgiving Day? Am I willing to take time today to thank God for all His goodness? Â
Â
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:
Father in Heaven, I thank you for being my God. I thank you for being my refuge and stronghold. As I think of all of the goodness that you have shown me this year, I thank you that you are always faithful, even when I am in doubt and faithless. Thank you for carrying me through my darkest hour. I will persevere and will stand strong in the midst of my problems because you are sustaining me with your strength. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
