FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: PATIENCE

Patience is the fourth fruit that is mentioned in the fruit of the Spirit. It means perseverance and endurance while going through difficult times or waiting for answers. One of the ways to describe the generation today is that this generation is a microwave generation. The reason is that we want everything now. If we need or want something, we want it immediately. No one wants to wait. We become impatient that we are missing the value of being patient.

One of the things that I am looking for is to be with our heavenly Father in heaven. I want to be with Him in heaven now, where there is no more pain, sickness, death, and sin. There is so much suffering in the world already because of illness, violence, or natural disasters. However, in 2 Peter 3:9, it says, "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." The reason He has not come back for us is that He is still at work in saving people who are not saved. So until then, I have to wait patiently.

The pandemic that we are going through today is testing many people's patience. Some people do not want to wait any longer. They want to go back to the regular routine of their lives in spite of the danger of the COVID-19. We need to remind ourselves that God understands what we are going through, and God wants us to be patient and trust in Him. The value of being patient in the time of crisis is peace. When we are stuck on something and cannot move forward because we have to wait for something, we need to be patient. It is alright to slow down and not worry about anything. Remember, He's got the whole world in His hand. (https://youtu.be/A4AY9sM-gt0). If we don't have patience, we need to ask our Lord to give us patience so that we can have His peace in our hearts in our current situations.

Ask yourself these questions: What is patience? Do I have the patience to wait on the Lord in my current situations? What should I do if I don’t have patience?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you that you have the whole world in your hands. You are in control, and you understand what I am going through. Please help me to wait for you to clear everything on my path patiently. Thank you for not being impatient towards me, and help me to be patient with others also. Please help me with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
