If God is the truth, then His word is the source of truth, and if the Word of God is the source of truth, then we must filter every ideology and teaching through the Word of God. It means that if we want to know how we should live our lives, we must follow the Word of God. For example, if we want to know about true social justice, abortion, homosexuality, race, sin, hell, salvation, etc., we need to understand them through the Word of God. We cannot say we believe in God and disregard His Word because God will never contradict His Word. When human's ideas and God's Word collide or contradict each other, we must follow the Word of God. Here's what Jesus says about His Word, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will never pass away" (Matthew 24:35).
It is important as believers of our Lord Jesus Christ that we examine everything through the Word of God before we believe and accept them as true. There will be a day when we will be persecuted because of our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ because the lies will become the truth, and the truth will become lies. Romans 1:25 says, "Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen." Let us not be deceived by the lies of Satan. We need to know God's truth through His Word.
There is only one way to protect ourselves from Satan's lie: to know the truth of God through His Word, the Bible. Let us not believe everything that we hear from social media, the news outlets, and even from Christian teachers and pastors without filtering it through the Word of God. We need to be like the Berean Jews in the New Testament. Acts 17:11 says, "Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures (the Word of God) every day to see if what Paul said was true."
Ask yourself these questions: Who is the source of truth? Do I believe that the Bible is the Word of God that teaches me the truth? Before I accept the ideas and teachings of others, what must I do as a follower of my Lord Jesus Christ?
Write down all the worries you are facing today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, thank you that you are the truth that I must follow. Please guard my mind against the lies of this world. Please help me to stand for what is true according to Your Word. Please give me discernment and wisdom. Would you please correct me if there is anything that I believe is not true? I want to live in your truth. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
