COMMITTING EVERYTHING TO GOD

Psalm 37:5-7 is an encouragement to commit everything to the Lord and trust Him with everything that is going on in our lives. The verses say, "Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don't worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes." To commit everything we do to God means to surrender or give up to God everything. All of our burdens, anxiety, and worries need to be surrendered to God completely through prayer. It is the same idea when we give our tithe and offering to the Lord. We are giving everything to God and let Him take care of us. When we commit everything to God, we are saying to God that we completely trust Him, that He is going to work on our problems, and that we will trust Him with whatever the outcome. It is the same as when we take our car to the shop when it is broken. We are trusting the mechanics to fix the problem of our car. We wait in the lobby until they are done fixing our car.

When we give up, surrender, or commit all our burdens, problems, worries, and anxieties to God, we should have the assurance in our hearts that God will do everything to help us. When we trust Him completely, the peace of God should reign in our hearts and minds. When we commit something to God, we are allowing Him to work on it without any of our control and influence. We are completely giving it to God and completely trusting Him. Since we trust God completely, our righteousness will shine like the noonday sun. It is a choice that we need to make to give up, surrender, or commit all our burdens, problems, worries, and anxieties to God, and for some of us, it may be difficult to do. However, we need to believe and trust God that He is the God who loves and cares about us.

Ultimately, God is the only one we have when our situation is beyond our ability to understand and beyond everything that we have, and this is the reason we need God in our lives. Some things are beyond our control, and we must give them up to God and completely trust Him by being still in His presence.

Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you). What does it mean to commit everything to God? How should I deal with my burdens, problems, worries, and anxieties? What does God promise us when we surrender our burdens, problems, worries, and anxieties to God?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, I commit all my burdens, problems, worries, and anxieties to you. Please help me to trust in you completely and let go of the control. May I give you full control of my situation and rest in your presence? Thank you for caring for me. Thank you that you are in control and a powerful God. Have your ways in me, and fill me now with your peace and assurance. In your name, Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.
