CASTING OUR CONCERNS TO OUR HEAVENLY FATHER

David wrote this in Psalm 55:22-23 as an encouragement to those who are going through difficult situations, especially to those who are suffering because of betrayal, "Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. But you, God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of decay; the bloodthirsty and deceitful will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you." What does it mean to cast our cares on the Lord? The word "cast" carries the idea of throwing a fishing net into the water. It is about letting go of the net and letting it do its thing to trap fish in the water so that the fisherman can catch many fish. The word "cares" is everything that we are concerned about, including our problems and challenges. The One that we cast our cares for is the Lord, our God, who created the universe and everything in it—the One who loves us. The way we cast our cares on the Lord is through our prayers.

When we pray and trust in our Heavenly Father, He will sustain us, give us the strength to overcome our difficulties and deliver us in due time according to His purpose and plan. There are no problems that we face that are beyond His power to resolve. He can change hearts and situations. He can provide everything that we need. When we face impossibilities, we can find security in His promise to sustain us because He promised us that those who are righteous because of their faith in Him will never be shaken. Our Heavenly Father will never give up on us, and He will carry us through in this life. When David committed a terrible sin, God did not give up on him but forgave him and changed his heart. When people wrong us because of their evil intentions, God will avenge us and make things right in His timing.

We can trust our Heavenly Father in every situation. Our lives are always in His loving arms. Our Heavenly Father wants us to cast our cares on Him because He cares about us. He wants to carry our burdens and comfort and guide us in our times of need.

Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully, meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) What does it mean to cast my cares to my Heavenly Father? What does God promise me when I trust Him in my difficulties? Do I believe that God loves and cares about me?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, I cast all my cares on you. Thank you for always listening to my prayers. Please help me completely trust in you so that your peace overcomes my anxiousness, fear, and worries. Thank you for loving and caring for me. I pray all these things in the name of my Lord Jesus. Amen.
