Psalm 113:1-9 says, "Praise the Lord! Yes, give praise, O servants of the Lord. Praise the name of the Lord! Blessed be the name of the Lord now and forever. Everywhere—from east to west—praise the name of the Lord. For the Lord is high above the nations; his glory is higher than the heavens. Who can be compared with the Lord our God, who is enthroned on high? He stoops to look down on heaven and on earth. He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, even the princes of his own people! He gives the childless woman a family, making her a happy mother. Praise the Lord!" We have many reasons to thank and praise God for all the wonderful things He has done for us. Since our God is all-powerful, He is high above the nations and the heavens (universe). He sits on His throne, seeing everything in the universe and the earth. He sees the poor and the needy and lifts them up from their low and degrading condition into a higher position of honor and dignity. He provides a family to a childless woman. In other words, God has the power to change our lives; as a result, we must thank and praise our God, who is all-powerful.
The greatest thing that He has done for us is when He saved us from our sins and gave us a new life in our Lord Jesus. We were lost in our sins and condemned to hell, but by His grace, mercy, and love, He saved us through our Lord Jesus by paying the penalty of our sins, putting His righteousness in us, and adopting us as His children. We were poor and needy in spirit, but He lifted us up to Himself as His sons and daughters. He is not ashamed to call us His own and the apple of His eyes, despite our weakness and failures. He understands our weaknesses, difficulties, hardships, and struggles, and He gives us the strength and courage to carry on. He is constantly at work in our lives, renewing our minds and changing our hearts to make us the people that He wants us to be. He promised us eternal life, and when the times come, we will be with Him forever.
There are many things that we can thank and praise God for, even when we are struggling. Let us not lose heart, but keep on trusting, thanking, and praising God, for He is all-powerful. He understands our weaknesses, difficulties, hardships, and struggles, and in due time, He can change our situations.
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Make a list of all the wonderful things God has done, and take a moment to thank and praise Him for them. Among the list of wonderful things that God has done for me, which one is the greatest? Why? If God has done all these great things for me, do I believe that God will do more great things in my life?
Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven, I praise and thank you for all the great things that you have done in my life. Please help me not to lose heart in the midst of my struggles, for you are always with me. You understand and care about my weaknesses, difficulties, hardships, and struggles. You have the power to change my situation, for you are an all-powerful God. There is nothing impossible to you. Please help me to trust you. In your name, Jesus, I pray, Amen.
