Psalm 118:24-29 says, "This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Please, Lord, please save us. Please, Lord, please give us success. Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the house of the Lord. The Lord is God, shining upon us. Take the sacrifice and bind it with cords on the altar. You are my God, and I will praise you! You are my God, and I will exalt you! Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever." When we wake up this morning, we entered in to a new day that God has made for us. Everything that happened yesterday became a part of history. We cannot go back to the past and undo what we have done, but we can ask God for forgiveness, change from the wrong things that we have done, and live in the grace, mercy, and love of God today. God is always at work in our lives, and today is a brand new day in which God can make a difference in our lives. We cannot rejoice today if we are not trusting and holding on to His promises that He loves and cares about us.
Today, we can ask God to help us with our needs and problems and give us success in the work of our hands. If God loved and took care of us yesterday, He will definitely do the same today. Our Lord Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Our LORD is God, shining upon us His presence. He is with us today because He lives in us. Let us not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow has not happened yet. Let us rejoice today and live in the present. Breath the fresh air today and enjoy and praise the LORD. Let us give thanks to our LORD for this brand new day. Our choice today is whether we trust and follow His ways, or not trust Him and follow our own ways. Let us trust Him completely and follow His ways that we may enjoy and rejoice in His presence.
Let us be present today, and do not worry about tomorrow, for He has everything under control in the palm of His hands. We may encounter surprised event today, but no matter what happens today, God is not surprised, and we can lean on Him for guidance, strength, and wisdom.
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) How should I live my life today? Should I worry about tomorrow? What happened to the past sins for which I have already asked God for forgiveness?
Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven, I praise and glorify your name for this brand new day that you have made. Thank you for another day. Please provide me with guidance, courage, strength, and wisdom today. Please give me success today in everything that I do that is acceptable to you. I should not worry about anything, for your love, mercy, and grace will carry me through. Thank you for your faithful love that endures forever. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
