What does it mean when the Bible says, "the joy of the Lord is my strength?" The word joy means delightness, happiness, contentment, feeling of ease, appreciation, and meaning. The uniqueness of the joy of the Lord is that it can only come from Him. This is not a joy that the world gives, but God gives it to those who delight and trust in Him. When we completely trust God in every circumstance in our lives, our worries turn to assurance in God and lead us to have joy in our hearts. When we have God's joy in our hearts, we are then strengthened.
According to the studies, joyful people are healthier. They have less chance of having a heart attack and maintain good blood pressure. It boosts our immune system that fights off bacteria and viruses. There are so many physical and spiritual benefits of having the joy of the Lord in our hearts. However, to have the Lord's joy in our hearts is a choice that we need to make every day we wake up in the morning. It is a choice to decide that we will delight and trust our God in every circumstance that we have.
Our trust in the Lord is the foundation of our joy in the Lord. Today, let us surrender to God all the worries that we have and decide to completely trust God in them and receive God's assurance and not to worry about them. We will then experience the joy of the Lord in our hearts and be strengthened.
Ask yourself these questions: Am I willing to trust the Lord in every circumstance that I have that I may experience His joy in my life? How do I receive the joy of the Lord in my life?
Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in heaven, thank you that you are always in control. Please help me to trust you in every circumstance that I may experience your joy in my life and be strengthened. Please help to walk in your joy today. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
