KING DAVID PRAYED IN THE MORNING

One of the strengths of King David is that he constantly prayed to God every morning. He prayed, "O Lord, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you. Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly (Psalms 5:1-3)." Despite the threat of his enemies, he trusted God as his safe place. King David understood God's unfailing love toward him. King David continued his prayer, "Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house; I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe. Lead me in the right path, O Lord, or my enemies will conquer me. Make your way plain for me to follow (Psalms 5:7-8)." The reason King David was a mighty warrior was because of his relationship with God. He defeated all his enemies because God was his confidence, strength, and protector.

In the same way, God is our confidence, strength, and protector. We must continue praying to God every morning before we start our day. We need God's guidance and wisdom at work, school, or any place where we are at. We can rely on God in every situation because God cares and loves us unfailingly. King David was able to defeat his enemies because of God. We may not have great enemies but we face challenges and problems daily. We can conquer our problems not with our own wisdom and strengths but God's wisdom and strength. We can overcome our fears with our faith in God.

Let us not start our day without praying to God first. Let us not allow worries to control our emotions, but let our faith in God overcomes our worries. The moment we open our eyes in the morning, let us seek God, pour our hearts into Him, and completely trust that He answered our prayer.

Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you) Why is it important to pray to God the moment I wake up in the morning? How can I make it a habit to pray to God in the morning? What can I learn from King David in his prayer?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, I seek you in the morning, for you are my God and King. I lift up all my concerns to you this morning and help me to trust you completely. Do not let worries overcome my emotions, but may my faith in you overcome my worries so that I may walk in your peace all throughout the day. In your name Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.
