As we look at everything that is going on in this world, have you ever wondered when the evil things of this world will stop? Is there an end to the evil suffering of this world? The war in Ukraine has been going on, and the European countries are thinking about sending troops to Ukraine, which can escalate the war in the region. We know that Russia has nuclear weapons, and it has been threatening the Western world with its nuclear weapons. The U.S. and its allies also had nuclear weapons, and they are not giving in to the Russian threats. They will respond if Russia uses its nuclear weapons. We see conflicts in Asia, such as North Korea and South Korea, China and Taiwan, and the internal conflict in Myanmar. We see conflicts in the Middle East between Israel, Hamas, and Iran. With all of these conflicts, is there hope for world peace?
The nation of Israel during the time of the Old Testament period had gone through so many conflicts. Their enemies surrounded them, and they were crying out for peace, and the peace that they were looking for could only be found in God. Psalm 46:8-10 says, "Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." God is the only one who can end all wars in this world, but He is going to do it on His second coming in this world. The reason He has not physically come back to this earth is because He is giving those who are not saved yet to believe in Him and be saved. When our Lord Jesus decides to come back to this earth, He will bring judgment on this world to set His order. He is going to judge the unbelievers and restore this world. He will reign for 1000 years, and He will lead us to the new Heaven and new earth.
Our Lord Jesus will bring His peace on this earth on His second coming, and those of us who believe in Him will be with Him and enjoy a restored earth where there is no longer war and conflicts. Let us not lose hope because our Lord Jesus is coming back and restoring everything. When we feel overwhelmed with what is going on around this country and the world, let us trust and fix our eyes on our Lord Jesus. When Jesus returns, He will bring peace, and the nations will praise and honor Him.
Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you). Who is the only one who can stop war and conflicts in this world? When is my Lord Jesus restore the world? How should I live knowing that my Lord Jesus is coming back to restore everything?
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, I am looking forward to my Lord Jesus' return to this earth to restore everything. Please help me not to lose hope when I am becoming overwhelmed with the things that are going on in this world. Please help me to trust you and fix my eyes on you. Thank you for being my hope. In your name, Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.
