There was a man who had been living among the tomb because of demon possession. People tried to bind him with chains and shackles to protect himself and others, but he was so powerful that he broke both the chains and shackles. He was so powerful that no one could subdue him. So night and day, he screamed among the tombs and in the mountains and cut himself with stones. This man was isolated and suffering from his condition, and no one could help him. It was not until Jesus showed up and cast out the demons out of him. When the demons saw Jesus, they were terrified of him and asked if they could be cast out to the nearby pigs. Jesus permitted them. And coming out, the demons entered the pigs; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, about two thousand of them; and they were drowned in the sea. The man who had been possessed came back to his right mind and became normal again.
Jesus delivered the man from the power of Satan and brought him into the light. Jesus did the same thing to us, not physically, but spiritually. When we put our faith in Jesus by surrendering our life to Him, He delivered us from the power of darkness and brought us into the light. Colossians 1:13 says, "He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son." We were dominated by the power of Satan and sin before, but now we have been delivered by the power of our Lord Jesus. We can now say no to the influence of Satan and sin. As a result, we do not need to live in sin. We can stop walking the wrong way and start walking on the right path today. We can reject the negative thoughts coming into our minds and start thinking about godly and wholesome thoughts.
We need to remind ourselves of this important truth about ourselves that we have been delivered from the power of darkness. Satan and the demons have no control over us anymore. We have been delivered and set free by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. So let us say this truth about ourselves this morning, "I am delivered from the power of darkness. Christ brings me to God's kingdom."
Ask yourself these questions: Do I believe that God has transferred me from the darkness and brought me to His kingdom through Jesus? Do I believe that Satan and the demons do not have power over me anymore? How should I live my life knowing that God has delivered me from the power of Satan and the demons and brought me to His kingdom?
Write down all the worries you are facing today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, thank you for delivering me from the power of darkness and bringing me to your kingdom through my Lord Jesus. Please help me to live my life according to your truth. Please help me reject the negative thoughts in my mind and start thinking godly and wholesome thoughts. Please help me do the right thing and stop walking on the wrong path. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
