Easter Sunday is a celebration of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. On Good Friday, we remember the death of our Lord Jesus, but on Easter Sunday, we celebrate His resurrection. Jesus said, "That the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise" (Luke 24:7). Jesus referred to Himself as the Son of Man in this verse because He spoke of His humanity. Jesus came into the world both as God and as a human. So when Jesus died on the cross, He died like us. He died as a human being. However, death cannot hold Him, and He rose from the dead on the third day. Acts 2:12 says, "But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him."
When Jesus was resurrected, we received new hope and life in Him. It is through His resurrection that we have hope for eternal life. Paul said, "And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith." (1 Corinthians 15:14). We need to remind ourselves that we have a Savior who is not dead but alive. And Jesus is now in heaven sitting on the right-hand side of our God the Father, praying for each of us (Romans 8:34). And there will be a day that we will see Him face to face, and we will be forever in His presence.
So let us celebrate our Lord Jesus' resurrection this Sunday. It is not about the Easter bunny, but it is about the resurrection of our Lord Jesus. Let us remind our friends and family that Easter Sunday is about celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus. We thank God that we have a new beginning of life because of our Lord Jesus' resurrection.
Ask yourself these questions: What do I celebrate on Easter Sunday? How should I live knowing that my Savior is alive and loves me? Why is it that Jesus' resurrection is important to my salvation?
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, thank you for the resurrection of my Lord Jesus, for without His resurrection, I will never have hope of salvation. I have hope because my Savior Jesus is alive. Please help me to celebrate the salvation and the new life that I received through His resurrection. Please help me to be thankful always for everything that my Lord Jesus has done in my life. In your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
