Although we do not know what will happen to us tomorrow, God encourages us not to worry. Jesus said, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Matthew 6:34). God has given us so many promises that He will take care of us no matter what happens. God promised this to His people, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you." (Deuteronomy 31:6). Every time we feel anxious about our future, we need to remind ourselves of God's promises. We have to fix our eyes on Jesus through prayer and His word. There are so many times that when we worry, we keep on thinking about the scenarios that we believe it is going to happen, but God holds our future. He knows everything that we need, and He will provide them according to His purpose and plan.
God does not only promise us that He is going to be with us tomorrow, but also He promises us that our future is to be with Him in heaven. Our final destination is heaven. We can easily forget that we are all just passing through this earth. We are all not meant to stay on this earth forever. Our current bodies cannot hold eternity. They grow old, get sick, and turn back to dust, but our souls will move on to new resurrected bodies and live forever with God in heaven. Our future is much better than this world can offer. The new heaven and the new earth do not have sin, suffering, and death.
When we are anxious about our future, we need to remind ourselves of God's promises. When we are sick, lost our job, have problems in the family or relationships, not enough money to pay the bills, have difficulty at school, feeling not good enough, or trap in sin but too weak to get out, we need to trust in our God. We need to keep on surrendering our lives to Him. True Christianity is about trusting in our Lord and Savior and not in ourselves. God knows that we need Him, and He will never leave us nor forsake. He will always be there for us, even when we feel that our future is not clear. God promised that He is going to take all His children home to be with Him in heaven.
Ask yourself these questions: Should I worry about tomorrow? What do I do when I am worrying about tomorrow? Where is my final destination?
Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
