Fear overwhelms us when we cannot control our situations, and our comfort zone and safety are threatened. Our situations are beyond our wisdom and means. So, what should we do when we are in this situation? Some people will lose hope and give up. But others, like David, never lose hope because of their relationship with God. Despite being surrounded by his enemies and death always around him, David always trusted the Lord because he knew God. He knew God because of God's Word. David prayed, "Teach me your way, Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors (Psalm 27:11). There are times in our lives when we face situations more than we can understand. But when we face those situations, our faith in our God will pull us through, not our own wisdom and strength, because they are not enough.
David continued to write in Psalm 27:13-14, "I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." God is our deliverer and answer to all our fears. We have to believe that He cares for those who trust and believe in Him because he promised it. When we are in the middle of situations that are beyond our means and understanding, we need to continue to follow what God is telling us to do, remain confident, and wait patiently for God's deliverance. There are times when the only thing that we can do is to remain confident in Him and wait patiently. Waiting in the Lord's deliverance is not a waste of time because it is through waiting that He builds our character and strengthens our faith.
We must believe that God is our deliverer, and He will not allow us to be destroyed. No matter what happens, He will always be in control, and our lives will always be in the wonderful care of His hands. We only need to do what God has put in our hearts to do, be confident in Him, and wait patiently for His deliverance.
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you). How did David handle his fear? What should I do when I do not have control of my situation? Do I sincerely believe that I trust God in my life?
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, I praise you for always being with me. You are always faithful to see me through. Please continue to teach me your ways. Please help me to always put my confidence in you and wait patiently for your deliverance. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
